PROCEDURES FOR STAFFING CID TRAININGS

STAFF CADET PROCEDURES

READ THIS--IT IS IMPORTANT!

As a general rule, cadets wishing to serve as staff must show an uncommon level of motivation, fitness, deportment, and general knowledge expertise.

Staff cadet orders are accepted by this command only under the following circumstances:

  1. The COTC has direct knowledge of the quality of your work. Strong preference will be given to cadets who have trained with us before.
  2. The COTC is assured that you will remain at the training site for the entire training. This includes staff work before trainees arrive and after trainees depart. Staff cadets often report prior to trainees to properly prepare for training.
  3. You complete all necessary paperwork prior to the training and you can meet the training requirements. Can you lead and positively influence your peers?
  4. You agree to implement the command's program following guidelines of the command. This includes uniforms, grooming, haircuts, fitness, etc. going "off the reservation" or "doing your own thing" is not desired.  If you are immature, selfish, just want to be a boss, or like to lead by being a clown, or creating low expectations to be a "buddy," do not apply.
  5. Some cadets with lower performance ratings may get staff billets that involve limited, direct contact with cadets. This could include administrative, supply, operations, or galley assignments.
  6. For Recruit Training staffing, submit an essay of approximately 100 words as to why you are worthy of being a staff cadet.

Some hints:  cadets who write that they need this experience to advance are likely not to be issued orders for staffing. The staffing experience is about what you will bring to the training, not what the training brings to you.
