Recruit Training

28 Jun 2020 - 11 Jul 2020. Recruit Training is the required first step in expanding your career as a United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Cadets should expect a rigorous, authentic immersion into life that mirrors that of enlisted Marines and sailors. Cadets who wish to participate in this experience should request training authority through their local unit and pay the non-refundable training fee. 

NLCC Basic Orientation

NLCC Basic Orientation is an age-appropriate challenging training environment where we will work on building basic cadet skills in areas such as character education, customs/courtesies, basic first aid, navigation, team building, naval traditions, drill/ ceremonies, leadership, health, nutrition, and hygiene.

Field Operations

High-speed, realistic training conducted by Marines. You must pass an enhanced physical readiness test in order to attend this training. This experience is physically demanding and rigorous. Come prepared. If you intend to attend this training you must sign up through your local unit and pay your training deposit. Sailing School

Sailing school is conducted by the Saylorville Yacht Club Sailing School at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa. If you intend to attend this training you must complete orders and return to the COTC by email at or by mail at 2008 Bailey Dr, Marshalltown, Iowa 50158.
